If
I remember correctly there were several aircraft returning from Danang
area at night. En-route their aircraft disappeared. Sometime after I
returned home I heard they found the aircraft deep inland. Apparently
they had turned due west and motored until out of gas. The weather was
bad, but I don't remember how bad.

Robbie Robertson was a very good friend of Tony Kisucky, co-pilot. For
that reason he was one of the pilots assigned to the search. As John
Burns said there were at least 3 aircraft returning from Danang to Phu
Bai. Bad weather occurred and the other two went east and out to the
beach. For unknown reason, this a/c went west. Robbie stated that they
searched for at least 3 days. Attempting to recreate the event they flew
various vectors and simulated descents of a normal UH 34. Eventually
discovered crater in Vietnamese graveyard. Hovered low enough to be
certain that nothing was there. Two years later he learned that was
exactly where a/c and bodies were discovered.
